CRIMINAL
DEFENSE
Out of our long-standing commitment to
individual rights has grown a broad criminal defense
practice in federal and state courts. We represent clients
at all phases of the criminal process: investigation,
grand jury, trial, sentencing, appeals, and motions
for new trials and to vacate guilty pleas. We represent
people accused of the entire range of criminal charges,
including:
WHITE
COLLAR CRIMES
Our record includes
a multimillion dollar federal tax fraud case that resulted
in a judgment of acquittal after four weeks of trial.
In a $20 million Medicare fraud case,
the government retreated from prosecuting our client,
who was given only a six-month probation term.
We represented a lawyer who was charged
with the theft of more than $1 million and obtained
a term of probation on a negotiated plea.
CRIMES
OF VIOLENCE
Recently we obtained
an acquittal in a federal armed robbery case after jury
deliberations of less than two hours.
We have handled over forty murder cases
and many other violent offenses with a high success
rate at trial and with negotiated deals.
DRUG
AND FIREARMS OFFENSES
We
negotiated a plea of probation in a major cocaine trafficking
case that had a high minimum mandatory sentence.
We
recently won a motion to suppress all evidence seized
in a cocaine trafficking case in state superior court,
which resulted in the dismissal of all charges against
the client.
SEX
OFFENSES
We
represented a client charged with domestic rape who
was acquitted after a jury deliberation that lasted
only a few hours.
In
several hearings before the Sex Offender Registry Board
we have successfully obtained the lowest possible classification
for our clients.
MILITARY
CRIMES
We
recently represented an Air Force service member in
a sexual misconduct case which resulted in the dismissal
of all criminal charges.
DEATH
PENALTY
We represented a defendent
charged with murder and racketeering in the federal
death penalty authorization process. In 2005 the U.S.
Attorney General decided not to seek the death penalty
against our client. The case was then tried in Federal
Court in Boston and the client was acquitted.
JUVENILE
DELINQUENCY
We
represent juveniles both in Juvenile Court and in serious
felonies, including murder, in Superior Court.
We
recently negotiated a sentence of one year probation
for a juvenile defendent on a manslaughter case.
OUI
We have won many not guilty verdicts in a variety of
OUI cases.
